Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of ringing in the New Year at the Old School House B&B, nestled along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way. As a landscape photographer, I truly appreciated the combination of rugged scenery and a cozy atmosphere-perfect for unwinding after long days of exploring the breathtaking surroundings. The hosts, Dominick and Lillian, welcomed us like long-lost friends, and their genuine hospitality made the stay special. Mornings began with traditional Irish breakfasts featuring homemade bread, pancakes, and smoked salmon, which fueled us for adventures like kayaking and the nearby Ballinskelligs Abbey. Our children were delighted with the quirky garden, and we made the most of the cozy guest lounge with its open fire and a collection of games to enjoy in the evenings. Although the B&B exuded charm, we did find the rooms a bit chilly, but it's to be expected in such an old building. This place felt like a hidden gem until a little hiccup concerning payment dampened our spirits. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Old School House B&B for those seeking a homey, charming base to explore the magical landscapes of Kerry. We left with memories to cherish and stories to tell, hoping to someday revisit our new friends!
